FixMyCity BD
Bangladesh's civic issues, reported in plain language.
The short version
FixMyCity BD tackles a painfully ordinary problem: civic infrastructure issues — potholes, broken streetlights, water leaks — go unreported or unrouted because the reporting process is too complex for ordinary citizens.
The platform removes the friction. No login required: a citizen describes the problem in Bangla, English or Banglish — by text, voice (Groq Whisper speech-to-text) or a photo (Gemini Vision) — and the AI pipeline does the rest. A primary LLM (Groq's llama-3.3-70b) analyzes the report; Google Gemini 2.0 Flash serves as the fallback. It auto-detects language, sorts the issue into one of 17 civic categories, scores severity with a hybrid LLM-plus-rules model (proximity to schools and hospitals, road type, category weight), and checks for duplicates using geo-proximity and semantic matching.
Officials get a role-based government dashboard — KPI cards, critical-alert banners, full-text search, filtering, status updates, department assignment and CSV/XLSX export. Citizens get a tracking code, a visual progress timeline, and anonymous community upvoting — no account needed.
It was built for the national hackathon to solve a real Bangladeshi problem, and it remains a public repository — active software, not a pitch deck.
What it does
- Zero-friction reporting — no login, in Bangla, English or Banglish
- Multi-modal input: text, voice (Whisper) and photo (Gemini Vision)
- AI pipeline: language detection, 17 civic categories, confidence + severity scoring
- Hybrid severity scoring — LLM (60%) + rule-based adjustments (40%)
- Duplicate detection via haversine geo-proximity + LLM semantic judgment
- Role-based government dashboard with RBAC, KPIs and CSV/XLSX export
- Public progress tracking by code — no account needed
- Full OpenAPI 3.0 docs, rate limiting, magic-byte image validation, RLS
HONEST STATUSBuilt for the national hackathon and public in the open. It is ambitious in scope — many moving parts, honestly young. The README is the source of truth for what works today.
